Believe it or not, it is still baseball season and the playoffs are right around the corner. We have been keeping it lighter as I am waiting for postseason to start.
Rockies vs Giants (-168, 9)-
Tim Melville and Jeff Samardzija face off tonight. Last night’s game went into 16 innings and the bats couldn’t get anything going for 6 straight innings. Melville first few starts were very solid and then he regressed to the mean and looked like an average pitcher. His numbers are still respectable and this is a good spot for Melville.
Melville will have extra focus in this one as he is playing for a starting spot in the rotation for next season. Look, I know what you are thinking- A professional athlete is going to be more focused in this game more than the other players?
Well, Melville hasn’t played half a season as he was called up a month ago. He is fresh and knows he has something to play for. Both these teams are out of the playoffs and the end of the season is here. These players are exhausted and are ready for the season to be over as they have nothing to play for. This doesn’t even bring up that the fact that the batters will be depleted after a 16 inning affair and Oracle is dead last in park factors for batting. Samardzija should be able to pitch well at home night and I like the under tonight with me expecting a low scoring game.
I like a low scoring affair in this one and the no score in the first inning at -115 is another pick I like.
Pick- Under 9 runs (-115)
Strong lean- No score first inning (-115)
