Here is the AFC East Betting Preview.

AFC East Betting Preview

  1. New England Patriots (11-5)
  2. New York Jets (8-8)
  3. Buffalo Bills (7-9)
  4. Miami Dolphins (4-12)

New England Patriots

Well, the Patriots are favored again to win the East, which has to be the 10th straight season in which this was the case. Brady is getting up there in age and Gronk is gone, but you still have one of the best coaches in football and a solid offensive scheme. Pats have tough games against the Steelers, Cowboys & Chiefs (full schedule here) but have easier games against the Giants, Redskins, and the rest of the teams within the division x2. They have the second easiest schedule in the NFL based off of last year’s records. I like but don’t love the over 11 wins here and same goes with the over -500 to win the division at those odds.

  • 2019 Win Total: 11 (over -125/under +115)
  • 2018 Wins: 11
  • To win AFC East: (-500) value 6/10

New York Jets

Similar to the Patriots, the Jets also have an easy schedule (see full schedule here). Conversely, they don’t have a history such as the Pats or a QB like Tom Brady. Sam Darnold and Le’veon Bell will highlight this new-look offense. I have the Jets winning 8 this season and makes strides this season. At +600, I would sprinkle some money on this with some good value there. Darnold could make some serious progress in his second year and Bell is still a top running back. I like the over 7.5 wins here with an easy schedule and small play on the Jets to win the AFC East.

  • 2019 Win Total: 7.5 (over -115/under +105)
  • 2018 Wins: 4
  • To win AFC East: (+600) value 7/10

Buffalo Bills

It is officially the Josh Allen show in Buffalo and he enters his second year as a starter. Will his sophomore year be a breakout year? The Bills will have some question marks on the offense end with several young players at wideout and running back. The defense should be a top 10 defense this season and will be the strength of the team. Unfortunately, I don’t think Allen will have a breakout season and the Bills will land at 7-9. Their line for total wins is at 7 and I lean under this, but I am not too confident. There is some value here with the odds to win the division and I do believe it should be somewhere closer to +800.

  • 2019 Win Total: 7 (over -115/under +105)
  • 2018 Wins: 6
  • To win AFC South: (+950) value 6/10

Miami Dolphins

Ryan Fitzpatrick beat out Josh Rosen for the QB starting spot this preseason and the veteran QB will look to lead this Dolphins team to a surprise year. Unfortunately, there is a lack of talent on each side of the ball for the Dolphins to make any noise this season. Their total win total is set at 4.5, and I do like the over here as the Dolphins will steal a win or two down the stretch and will win some games solely off of Fitzmagic making some crazy plays in games. Conversely, he also will throw interceptions and cost the Dolphins some games. Tunsil and Stills were just sent to the Texans and I don’t see where the motivation comes from this year and I don’t see the Dolphins winning over 4.

  • 2019 Win Total: 4.5 (over -125/under +110)
  • 2018 Wins: 7
  • To win AFC East: (+2500) value 5/10
